Chef Chocolatier Dan Forgey named top 10 finalist, represents USA in World Chocolate Masters in France

Norman Love Confections’ Chef Chocolatier Dan Forgey was named a top 10 finalist in the World Chocolate Masters recently held in Paris, an international competition and the most demanding contest for chocolate professionals. Forgey represented the USA, competing against 20 chefs during the three-day competition, themed, “Inspiration from Nature.” Only ten of the twenty chefs will make it to the ‘Super final’ on Friday, where they created a ‘Patisserie of the Day’ and an artistic creation “Where Nature Goes”.

He represented the USA and Norman Love Confections by demonstrating the utmost skill and dedication to our country and our craft.”

The three-day competition is the ideal setting to discover the latest innovations and trends in the world of chocolate. In several rounds the chefs showcase their knowledge and craftsmanship. This year the chocolatiers crafted a ‘Sweet Snack on the Go’, a molded praline and an artistic chocolate showpiece. Forgey’s “sweet snack” was Daco2Go, and judges described it as “So clever!” “Incredible!” and one judge declared, “I think this is my new favorite!”.In addition, his chocolate sculpture, Protectress, depicts a mermaid, a spiritual force of nature that stands against the destructive presence of man.

The chefs also presented their unique ‘Or Noir,’ a chocolate that each of them made in Cacao Barry’s OR NOIR™ laboratory. A professional jury judged the creations, taking account of presentation, taste and technical skills.
