Norman Love Confections’ dark chocolates make Forbes top 10 list

FORT MYERS, Fla. (Nov. 21, 2014) – You can travel the world in search of exceptional chocolate but, it seems the road always leads back to Norman Love Confections in Fort Myers.

The celebrated chocolatier’s fanciful creations recently made Huffington Post’s list of top chocolates, and now Forbes has weighed in with yet another ringing endorsement. Forbes writer Katie Kelly Bell sampled more than 100 truffles and compiled a list of her 10 favorites, naming Love’s BLACK line among them.

“Norman Love’s Black Collection is the box to buy if you simply want variations on the pure dark chocolate theme,” she writes. “Love designed a tasting box of expressions of chocolate from all over the globe (Venezuela, Tanzania, Peru, Dominican Republic, Ghana). Truffles are pure ganache with a glossy exterior hand-painted with different colors. Ideal for the purist who doesn’t want contrasting flavors to interfere with the joy of chocolate.”

The BLACK line features origin chocolates whose flavors are unique to the places in which the cocoa beans used to make it are grown, much like single-vineyard wines. In addition to their intense, complex flavors, dark chocolates offer a wealth of health benefits, including antioxidants known as flavanols that help prevent heart disease; endorphins, which promote a feeling of well-being and reduce sensitivity to pain; and tryptophan, which produces serotonin in the brain, helping to increase feelings of calm and well-being. It can also help lower blood pressure in a way that other varieties of chocolate cannot.

“We are delighted that Forbes readers will now discover what so many of our customers have long known: dark chocolate has complex flavors, is intensely satisfying and, in addition, is good for you,” said Norman Love.
