FORT MYERS, Fla. (Oct. 29, 2010) – Norman Love has announced that Nathaniel Reid has joined Norman Love Confections as its pastry chef.
Reid, a graduate of the highly acclaimed Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, with a Grand Diploma in Culinary and Pastry Arts, was also recently selected as U.S. Pastry Competition Pastry Chef of the Year 2010 in New York City. The U.S. Pastry Competition is America’s most prestigious pastry championship.
In 2009, Reid placed first with the Best Chocolate/Confection at the Pastryscoop.com Golden Scoop Awards and third place at the International Pastry Grand Prix in Tokyo.
“Nathaniel is a rising star in the pastry world; we are fortunate to have him working with us,” said Love. “He will definitely take Norman Love Confections to a new level of excellence with his artistry, creativity and baking skills.”
In his new position, the award-winning chef will oversee NLC’s pastry and bakery shop, including the production of specialty cakes, desserts and bakery items.
“Nathaniel specializes in contemporary, modern bakery creations with a European flair,” added Love. “And of course, each work of art will be baked fresh daily with the freshest ingredients available, including seasonal flavors and fruits.”
Reid will also consult with Love on their new Naples location which is scheduled to open the end of the year.
Most recently, Reid was the executive pastry chef of St. Regis Hotel, a Mobil Five Star, AAA Five Diamond resort in Dana Point, Calif. Previously, he held pastry positions with The Mansion Hotel and The Ritz-Carlton Hotel, both in Las Vegas.
Reid is also a graduate of the University of Missouri, Columbia, with a Bachelor of Science degree in hotel and restaurant management and a minor in biological science.
