Chocolate Artisan to be Honored by Dessert Professional Magazine on October 30th

FORT MYERS, FL—October 23, 2009—Norman Love Confections (NLC) announced today that its founder Norman Love is being bestowed the honor of being one of the Top 10 Chocolatiers in North America for 2009 by Dessert Professional Magazine. 

“With so many wonderful, talented chocolate purveyors in the ‘new world,’ we are pleased to announce our inaugural list of Top 10 Chocolatiers, honoring 10 North American-based chocolatiers whose confectionery craft exemplifies the use of chocolate, and whose contributions have elevated the chocolate industry,” according to Matthew Stevens, editor, Dessert Professional Magazine.

Regarding Love, Stevens says “his attention to every detail with the goal of creating the finest possible chocolate experience” stands out the most.

Each of the 10 chocolatiers has taken a different path to cacao success, according to Stevens. “Some were pastry chefs, while others have more confection backgrounds. Some are self-taught, while others have been classically trained at culinary academies worldwide,” he explains. “All are valuable ambassadors promoting one of the world’s most popular foodstuffs—chocolate.”

Love’s background in chocolate and pastries started when he studied the art of pastry making in France for two years and then led The Ritz-Carlton Corporation’s pastry kitchens around the world as corporate executive pastry chef for 13 years. He departed the Ritz-Carlton in 2001 when he started Norman Love Confections and he has been satisfying connoisseurs of fine chocolates ever since.

Continuing to be a prominent industry expert, Love has made numerous appearances on the Discovery Channel’s “Great Chefs” series and his desserts have graced the covers of Art Culinaire, Bakery Magazine and other prominent culinary publications. Chocolatier and Pastry Art and Design magazine named him one of the country’s top 10 pastry chefs in 1996 and 1997. He is also co-founder of the National Pastry Team Championship. Love is a regular guest judge on the Food Network Challenge series.

“I believe it is imperative for me to contribute when and how I can to further grow the chocolate industry and to help encourage those entering this artistic career,” Love says. “To be honored by Dessert Professional as one of the top chocolatiers in the country is very gratifying and humbling.”

Since founding Norman Love Confections, Norman has received tremendous national and international recognition. A highly respected consumer rating publication recognized the company numerous times as the best chocolates in the nation. His chocolates have been lauded by the likes of USA Today, La Vie Claire, Robb Report and Entrepreneur magazines and the company was selected as one of the top 10 artisan chocolate companies in the country.

The awards ceremony celebrating these talented artisans will be held as the main media attraction at the 12th annual New York Chocolate Show on October 30th, 2009.
