MEET THE
ARTISAN Maura Metheny, Manager of Chocolate
Production |
Maura Metheny honed
her love of the arts in high school, as well as at New York State College of
Ceramics where she majored in ceramic and glass design. She also enjoyed
baking, especially with her mother.
Her art background
made her particularly skilled at culinary design and decorating. So, Maura
obtained an Associate of Science degree in pastry arts at Johnson & Wales
University in Providence, R.I.
Upon graduation,
Maura spent several months in Lucerne, Switzerland, returning to work at The
Ritz-Carlton, Naples, Fla., as she wanted to work with the legendary chef,
Norman Love. Unfortunately, her first day at The Ritzs Dining Room was
his last day with the hotel.
A year later, Maura
was offered a part-time position at Norman Love Confections while continuing to
work full time at The Ritz. In 2003, she accepted a full-time position as head
of chocolate production with the Fort Myers-based confectioner.

FOR THE
LOVE OF BIKING |
The Bonita Bay Bike
Club knows how to reward themselves during their weekly rides from their Bonita
Springs community. This dedicated group of cyclists are often seen throughout
Southwest Florida as they pedal their way from Marco to Sanibel islands. The
club suggests that no biker ride alone and that they always include a 30-minute
stop for coffee. Thankfully, one of their favorite spots is Norman Love
Confections.
